How I decided to be a therapist
I have always enjoyed listening to others and getting to know about the different worlds everyone is experiencing. After living in Spain, Korea, and the United States, I had the opportunity to talk with people from diverse backgrounds and hear their stories. I realized that every person, regardless of who they were and how old they were, had their own personal challenges and vulnerable side, but oftentimes no one to confide in about those concerns. This motivated me to become a therapist, to be the listener to those who need someone to talk to and seek support. I am honored to share that I have been invited to many wounded hearts where we bravely fought together for restoration and transformation. I look forward to witnessing the same here with everyone who visits I Care Counseling Center.
How I would like to help clients as a therapist
I strive to promote a safe and non-judgmental environment that allows clients to externally express their inner voices. The purpose here is to let them know that they are being seen and heard and to allow them the time to explore their past and current struggles. By working collaboratively with clients, I help increase their self-awareness of thoughts and emotions, which facilitates a deeper understanding of themselves with a degree of objectivity. I focus on my clients’ strengths rather than their weaknesses to promote self-empowerment and resilience. With the foundation of a trusting relationship, I anticipate instilling hope and positivity in my clients’ lives. I believe that every session will be a meaningful milestone in our journey together toward growth and healing.
What my theoretical orientation is as a therapist
I employ an integrative approach to treatment with a blend of Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) depending on my client’s unique needs. These approaches help alter thoughts of hopelessness, rumination of negative thoughts, and disruptive thinking. As a therapist, I assist my clients to gradually build a healthier mind and alleviate burdens by helping foster strong coping mechanisms and self-empowerment.
