Play Therapy

Young children who may benefit from mental health support typically struggle in a traditional “talk therapy” setting.
Play therapy allows young children to engage in treatment at their own developmental level by using toys, games, and other tools to freely explore and express their difficulties.

At I Care Counseling Center, our specialized play therapists are ready to work with young children in a welcoming therapy setting equipped to meet the needs of children at varying developmental stages.

Common treatment goals for play therapy include :

  • Helping children experience and express emotions in a socially appropriate manner

  • Helping children enhance problem solving skills

  • Helping children become more responsible for their behaviors

  • Helping children develop social skills

  • Helping children develop respect for oneself and others
