How I decided to be a therapist
My path to becoming a therapist is rooted in a deep personal inquiry into the nature of suffering and healing, driven by a profound compassion for the human experience. Early in life, I was drawn to psychology, philosophy, and contemplative practices, which offered a rich framework for understanding the mind and exploring the path to inner liberation. My ongoing curiosity led me to explore various therapeutic modalities, ultimately resonating deeply with approaches that honor the inherent wisdom of the body and the mind's potential for healing. I bring to my practice a blend of knowledge, lived experience, and heartfelt dedication, with the hope that each person I work with feels seen, supported, and empowered to live more fully.
How I would like to help clients as a therapist
My approach to therapy is based on the belief that each individual possesses an inherent capacity for healing and autonomous growth, especially when provided with appropriate support. My goal with therapy is to support clients in navigating life's challenges with greater clarity and inner peace, providing empathy and validation, promoting self-agency and self-acceptance, and fostering psychological flexibility and emotional resilience. My primary intention is to cultivate a safe, nurturing, and deeply collaborative space where clients can explore challenges, enhance self-awareness, and develop practical skills for lasting change. I view therapy as a partnership, and my role is to walk alongside clients, offering both guidance and compassion, while respecting their unique journey, helping not to fix what is broken, but rediscover what has always been whole.
What my theoretical orientation is as a therapist
My practice is grounded in the understanding that healing occurs not only through insight, but also through direct connection to the body, the present moment, and our innate capacity for resilience. Drawing from the principles of mindfulness, compassion, and non-attachment central to Buddhist psychology, I support clients in cultivating greater awareness of their internal experience, developing emotional regulation, and transforming patterns of suffering.
Central to my approach is the intrinsic and undeniable connection between mind and body. My work is especially attuned to trauma—acute, developmental, and complex— and the way it manifests in the nervous system. My training in evidence-based modalities such as Somatic Experiencing and EMDR provides effective pathways for resolving trauma and chronic stress held within the body. I integrate elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy to provide concrete skills for managing thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. By weaving together these diverse yet complementary frameworks – from neurobiological understanding and contemplative wisdom to somatic release and practical skill-building – my goal is to help clients transform emotional distress, restore nervous system regulation, and foster a profound sense of integration, aliveness, and sustainable well-being in their lives.
