How I decided to be a therapist

My decision to pursue the career of a therapist stems from my strong belief in the importance of mental health services and their transformative power in the journey towards change.

How I would like to help clients as a therapist

I seek to provide a safe, non-judgmental, and collaborative therapeutic space to help clients explore their relationships with themselves and others as well as their significant life experiences. It is my belief that effective exploration of past and current experiences can help individuals gain clarity about their current cognitions of themselves and the world. This can be the first step in bringing about meaningful change and striving toward a life worth living. I also assist clients in gaining the necessary tools to help them adaptively cope with their symptoms.

What my theoretical orientation is as a therapist

I utilize an integrative approach to treatment with the therapeutic relationship as the foundation of my work. I am mindful of cultural and systemic variables which may have contributed to clients’ life experiences and their symptoms. By incorporating interventions from Interpersonal Therapy, CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), I collaborate with clients in identifying goals and working toward meaningful change in a manner that utilizes their strengths and reflects their resilience.
